The partnership at present comprises
of seven full-time and two half-time partners. We also employ
two salaried doctors who work for a total of nine sessions
per week:

Anne Huson
- Anne is the Senior Partner, and Clinical Lead
in the practice, and a former GP Registrar in the practice.
She is the Ribble Valley representative of the Local Medical
Committee and, also does work for East Lancashire Primary
Care Trust (PCT). Her special area of clinical interest
is palliative care.
Dr Martin
Flatley - Married with three children, and also a
former GP Registrar in the practice. Martin has particular
responsibility for premises and legal matters. He takes
responsibility for the childhood immunisation clinics (including
the baby assessments).
Dr Ron Higson -
Married to a doctor and has three children. Ron supports John
Saunders as School Doctor at Stonyhurst College, and also
provides dermatology services to patients across East Lancashire.
He is the practice "lead" on prescribing. Ron enjoys
"competing" in a number of sporting activities,
and has in the last few years enjoyed a white water rafting
trip to America and motor biking trip across the Moroccan
dessert.
Dr Ian Ibbotson -Married
with three children, and another former GP Registrar in the
practice. Ian runs the occupational medicine service, which
he has developed over recent years. He is the practice representative
in the out of hours co-operative, and represents the practice
on the Treatment Room Committee. He also chairs the
Clitheroe Heart Machine Fund.
Dr Will Mackean
- Married with three children, Will is the final former GP
Registrar in the practice. Will qualified as a GP trainer
in 2004. He has recently taken on responsibility for
Health & Safety issues and also chairs practice meetings. His
particular area of clinical interest is mental health and
Will is chairman of the local mental health team. Will
has a keen interest in music and plays a number of instruments.
Dr Gavin McBride
- Married to a Consultant with one child. Gavin works two
thirds time and has particular interest in pain management
and palliative care and takes joint responsibility for child
health surveillance within the practice. He is also
the partner responsible for QOF (Quality and Outcomes Framework),
and is the practice lead for Practice Based Commissioning.
Gavin recently qualified as the third GP trainer in the practice.
Gavin enjoys outdoor sporting activities, particularly cycling,
running and walking, and enjoys occasionally competing in
triathlon. He also enjoys trekking and provides medical
support on foreign trips.
Dr Susie Owen -
Married with two children. Susie is a part-time partner
and is the sister-in-law of Gavin McBride. She takes
lead responsibility for staffing matters within the practice.
Her specialist area within the practice is Asthma and Chronic
Obstructive Disease.
Dr John Saunders
- John has three children, and is also a GP trainer.John is
currently the Business Lead in the practice. John is
School Doctor at Stonyhurst College. He is a former
member of the District Audit Team, formerly a GP Appraiser
and is ex-Chairman of the School Governors at Ribblesdale
High School Technology College. . John has a keen interest
in sports injuries.
About the Staff
The Manager
is Phil Mileham, who joined the practice in 1991 and became
a partner of the practice in April 2004. Phil has overall
responsibility for the running of the practice and the development
of the business. He manages four teams: the medical team;
the nursing team; the administration team and the reception
team. There are over twenty administration and nursing staff
employed by the practice, together with three employed doctors.
The Practice
Manager is Christine Anderson, who takes responsibility
for the day-to-day management of the practice, and looks after
the administration team. She also is responsible for
the management of the computer systems and overseas staff
training and development. She manages the practice payroll
and the day-to-day finances.
The Medical
Team (the partners) meet every week to discuss practice
issues - each partner has special areas of responsibility,
and work with Phil to develop those areas of the business.
The Nursing
Team is managed by Trudy Howe, who is the Senior
Practice Nurse and Team Leader. She works with four part-time
Practice Nurses and organises the clinical priorities of the
practice with Dr Anne Huson. The nurses provide chronic
disease management and health promotion services and hold
surgeries both at the Health Centre and the Annexe.
Recent additions to Nurse led surgeries are a Minor Illness
Clinic and Travel Clinic.
The Administration
Team is managed by Chris Anderson, who is the Practice
Manager. She runs the secretarial and administrative services
in the practice.
The Reception Team
is managed by Helen Lytle, who is the Senior Receptionist.
She organises "the front end" of the practice and
is responsible for appointment systems.
