GP net earnings 2017/2018

PUBLICATION OF EARNINGS 2017/2018

All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.

The average pay for GPs working in the Castle Medical Group in the last financial year before tax and

National Insurance was £43,354.

This is for 5 full time GPs, 7 part time GPs, and 0 locum GPs who worked in the practice for more than 6 months.

It should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other practice.

Extra GP & Nurse Appointments

An innovative new scheme has been launched in East Lancashire to increase the number of GP appointments available to patients in the area.

The extended GP access scheme means that patients can make both face to face/telephone appointments with their GP practice to see a GP or Practice Nurse, from 6.30pm – 8.30pm on weekdays and 10am – 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The GPs will be able to access the patients full medical record and history. Appointments will be available as follows:

Burnley – St Peter’s Centre (Mon-Fri 6.30 – 8.30 and Sat-Sun 10 – 4)

Pendle – Yarnspinners Primary Health Care Centre (Mon – Fri 6.30 – 8.30 and Sat-Sun 10 – 4)

Rossendale – Haslingden Health Centre (Mon – Fri 6.30 – 8.30 and Sat-Sun 10 – 4)

Hyndburn – Accrington PALS (Mon – Fri 6.30 – 8.30 and Sat-Sun 10 – 4)

Ribble Valley – anticipated to go live by 1st November 2018

Shortage of Hepatitis A and B vaccines

There is a global shortage of Hepatitis A and B vaccines which is currently impacting severely on the UK supply.  The situation is particularly critical during August, but limitations on supply are likely to continue until early 2018.

This will mean that routine booster vaccinations will be suspended until further stocks are available.

This Practice currently offers the facility for patients

  • to book, view, amend, cancel, and print appointments online
  • to order online, view, and print a list of their repeat prescriptions for drugs, medicines, or appliances
  • to view online, export, or print summary information from their record, relating to medications, allergies, adverse reactions, and any other items agreed between the Practice and individual patient

We will publicise and promote our online services to our Practice’s patients through the Practice website, Practice waiting room leaflets, posters, and the Patient Participation Group by 31st March 2016.

Named Accountable GP

All patients now have a named accountable GP who is responsible for patients overall care at the Practice.  If you would like to know who your named GP is, please ask during your next consultation or at reception.

Please be aware that this does not mean you can only see your named GP.  Having a named GP does not prevent you seeing any other doctor in the Practice.  Your named GP will not be available at all times, and if your needs are urgent, you may need to discuss them with an alternative doctor.

When a patient expresses a preference as to which GP they have been allocated, the Practice will make reasonable efforts to accommodate this request.

New patients will be allocated and informed of their named GP when they register with the Practice.
